Is silence really golden?

Logged onto MSN, Yahoo and IRC right now I see a few people that I no longer talk to. Be it through their wishes, or mine I still feel uncomfortable with the silence. I sit here “Should I say hello?”, “Do I want to say hello?” or “Are they going to say hello?”.

Invariably the answer is no. Which I feel OK with at the time, but then after they’ve logged off I’m often left with a feeling of irritation that I didn’t speak up. In this world of high tech communication is there really any excuse not to?

One Response to “Is silence really golden?”

  1. I find it difficult, not wanting to bother someone but at the same time not wanting to be left thinking I should’ve said something. Pah. Stupid technology.
