Of Drinks and Dialogue

After another dull day at the office with no web access over the network I headed into town to meet Brendan. From there we headed over to G-A-Y bar for a few drinks and to watch some cheesy music videos – at £1.60 a drink I wasn’t complaining.

We then headed back to his place where we proceed to make toad in the hole, or toad in the cake as it turned out. Brendan put a few too many eggs in the batter! Jon arrived back as the food was almost done, we all sat down and ate, had a good chat and drank some more lovely wine. After dinner we watch a few more music videos and listening to some music. Then I headed back in the pouring rain on the DLR getting somewhat drenched on the way.

Apart from that, today I’ve been thinking about communication. No matter how busy, stressed or whatever mood you’re in it only takes a few seconds to send a text or an e-mail. Something to simply say “hello”, or something more special like “I love you”, something to brighten your day. One special friend of mine has been remarkably quiet of late, I know he’s having problems with another friend of his, but it’s nice to not need to push for some sort of response or acknowledgement of existence.

In the world we live in, with total 24 hour communication via mobile phones, text messages, pagers, blackberries, PDAs, e-mail, more methods of communication than we’ve ever had before why does it feel like there’s such silence?
